I am sorry to have read of the challenges you reported during Winter term 2022 and I have carefully considered your petition to receive Aegrotat Standing in POLS 262 (W 2022) based on those circumstances. After reviewing your file, I have decided to deny your request.
Danny, the instructor of this course advised me that not all learning outcomes were achieved in this course, but I am willing to drop POLS 262 late based on your extenuating circumstances. If you wish to accept this offer, please email asc.appeals@queensu.ca within the next 15 business days.
Going forward, I strongly suggest that you carefully evaluate your progress in your courses during week 7 of the term and if you have fallen behind or you are not performing in a course to your satisfaction, you should drop courses by the week 8 drop deadline. The drop deadlines, outlined in the “Important Dates” section on the Faculty of Arts and Science web page, have been established to ensure fair and equitable treatment of all students.
Another tool to manage your academics in addition to dropping a course by the drop deadline is our Academic Consideration protocol. A student can request short term consideration if they need more time to complete an assignment or had to miss a class due to documented extenuating circumstances.
