Category: Drop a course after the academic deadline
Dear Molly,
I have reviewed your petition to drop ECON 212 and ECON 232 (S23) after the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.
Your grades in these courses will be replaced with a ‘DR’ notation on your transcript.
I acknowledge that you are not currently enrolled in classes for the 2023/2024 academic year and I have granted this request due to the timeline and severity of your health-related circumstances as confirmed by the documentation we received. I would suggest that you meet with an Academic Advisor, once you are able to, so that you can learn about your academic options related to courses prior to the Summer term that may have also been impacted by your extenuating circumstances.
Upon your return to studies, you should know that it is the student’s responsibility to pause and evaluate the impact of extenuating circumstances on their classes before the drop deadline of the term. If they have fallen behind in a course or find the material too difficult, they should drop the course by the deadline. The drop deadlines, outlined in the “Important Dates” section on the Faculty of Arts and Science web page, have been established to ensure fair and equitable treatment of all students.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
Sincerely,
Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
