I have reviewed your petition to drop CHEM 221, CHEM 222, CHEM 223 and MATH 112 (W23) after the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

Your grade in these courses will be replaced with a ‘DR’ notation on your transcript.

I want you to know that I have exercised some leniency in this decision as the documentation that you supplied indicates that your extenuating circumstances began before the Winter term drop deadline. I have granted this petition as I acknowledge that you were not able to complete these classes through an Incomplete Grade during the 2023 Summer term as you are currently engaged in treatment. I also see that you are not enrolled in classes for this academic year.

Upon your return to studies, you should know that it is the student’s responsibility to pause and evaluate the impact of extenuating circumstances on their classes before the drop deadline of the term. If they have fallen behind in a course or find the material too difficult, they should drop the course by the deadline. The drop deadlines, outlined in the “Important Dates” section on the Faculty of Arts and Science web page, have been established to ensure fair and equitable treatment of all students.
