As part of the standard process when appealing to the Board of Studies, the Associate Dean (Academic) reviews your appeal submission. I have carefully considered your appeal to drop ENGL 215 (Summer 2023) past the academic deadline and after reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.
During the appeal of this decision, you submitted new documentation which further explained your situation. This is a lenient decision, but I am persuaded that receiving an eviction notice and then having to find a new housing situation does constitute extenuating circumstances. Although the event was prior to the drop deadline, I recognize that this would have been a very stressful time.
Going forward, I recommend that you pause and evaluate your courses before the drop deadline. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the Important Dates section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students at Queen's.
