Dear Yuxuan:

I have reviewed your petition to apply for more than 6.0 units on an Letter of Permission during the 2023/2024 academic year. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

As you know, Regulation 14.4 indicates that “[normally] the last two years of the Honours degree are taken in the Faculty of Arts and Science at Queen’s.” However, due to the exceptional opportunity that you have presented within your petition request, I will allow you to take 6.0 units of courses at Athabasca University during the W24 term along with your 12.0 units of enrolled Queen’s courses.

Please know that students are allowed to enrol in a maximum of 18.0 units per term including courses taken at other institutions. Also, you should know that some courses are not available for transfer credit.

You may now apply for a Letter of Permission through SOLUS. We would strongly suggest that you remain closely connected with the Faculty of Arts and Science Student Services office so that you can be made aware of potential disruptions to your studies if they happen.

Note that official transcripts with final grades must be received by the Student Services office upon completion of the courses. Please keep in mind that you must achieve a minimum grade of C on each course taken on a Letter of Permission, unless stated otherwise.

Finally, please be advised that you are allowed to complete a maximum of 57.0 transfer units towards your BCMP Honours degree program (see Academic Regulation 16.1.3) with a maximum of 24.0 units toward you Major in Computing plan.

I wish you well in your Winter term studies.

Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Academic)
