Dear Nayyab:

I have carefully considered your request to waive the 1-year petition deadline related to the 2022 Winter term. After reviewing your petition, I have decided to grant this request. You may now proceed with submitting a petition request to drop POLS 110 (FW21/22), CLST 130, GEOL 104, MATH 112, and STAT 263 (W22) after the academic deadline.

Within this new petition request, your letter should include the timeline of your extenuating circumstances (ie the date range that you were impacted by the situation), and an explanation of how your academic ability in these specific courses were impacted during this timeline.

Your documentation should confirm the timeline and severity of the extenuating circumstances (if it is possible to determine) and how the extenuating circumstances impacted your academic ability during that 2022 Winter term. Documentation can include but is not limited to a letter from a professional (such as Student Wellness Services and/or Queen’s Student Accessibility Services, an Off-Campus Physician’s Letter https://www.queensu.ca/artsci/sites/faswww/files/form/off-campus-physician-note.pdf (if your healthcare provider is not within the Queen’s community), a death certificates, legal documents, etc. If your extenuating circumstances are personal in nature or cannot be documented professionally, we may accept a letter from a family member or friend as long as they supply their contact information so that it can be verified.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Faculty Office at 613-533-2570 for advice or assistance.

Sincerely,

Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Academic)
