Dear Cristina,

I have reviewed your petition to drop ANAT 100 (F23) after the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I have granted this request as I recognize that you did not receive support for your extenuating circumstances until after the drop deadline of the 2023 Fall term. Going forward, please know that it is the student’s responsibility to pause and evaluate the impact of extenuating circumstances on their classes during week 7 of the term. If they have fallen behind in a course or find the material too difficult, they should drop the course by week 8 of term. The drop deadlines, outlined in the “Important Dates” section on the Faculty of Arts and Science web page, have been established to ensure fair and equitable treatment of all students.

I would also suggest that you remain connected with Queen’s Student Accessibility Services (QSAS) throughout the term, so that you obtain ongoing support from a Counsellor who can help manage the ongoing impacts of your health on your academics.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
