I want you to know that this was a lenient decision as the documentation that you supplied indicates that your extenuating circumstances have been impacting you since before the Fall term began. I have granted this request due as the most recent piece of documentation that you submitted through an email dated December 17 indicates a need for ongoing accommodations.
Please consider registering with Queen’s Student Accessibility Services (QSAS) if you have not done so already, so that you obtain ongoing support from a Counsellor who can help manage the ongoing impacts of your health on your academics.
Going forward, it is your responsibility to manage the impacts of your extenuating circumstances proactively and to make realistic assessments of your workload and what you can handle each term so that you can be successful in your courses. It is suggested that students evaluate the impact of extenuating circumstances on their classes during week 7 of the term. If they have fallen behind in a course or find the material too difficult, they should drop the course by week 8 of term. The drop deadlines, outlined in the “Important Dates” section on the Faculty of Arts and Science web page, have been established to ensure fair and equitable treatment of all students.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
