I have reviewed your petition to drop PHIL 263, PHIL 318, POLS 382, and POLS 384 (F22) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I acknowledge that your extenuating circumstances began after the 2022 Fall term drop deadline and I commend your ability to successfully complete one of your Fall term courses through an Incomplete Grade during the 2023 Winter term while you were on an international exchange.

I have granted this request due to the timeline and academic impacts of your extenuating circumstances as confirmed by the documentation you supplied. Going forward, it is the student’s responsibility to pause and evaluate the impact of extenuating circumstances on their classes during week 7 of the term. If they have fallen behind in a course or find the material too difficult, they should drop the course by week 8 of term. The drop deadlines, outlined in the “Important Dates” section on the Faculty of Arts and Science web page, have been established to ensure fair and equitable treatment of all students.
