Dear Ms. Seguin:

I have carefully considered your appeal to drop ECON 110B, ECON 212, ECON 232 and ECON 262 (W 2015) past the academic deadline as well as waive the Faculty ruling that you be Required to Withdraw for One Year. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request. You may now resume your studies at Queen's University.

As a result of this decision, your cumulative GPA will change so your academic record will be reassessed. If this results in any change to your current academic standing, you will be notified.

I would like to strongly suggest as part of my decision that you consider taking a part-time course load next year. Taking 9.0 units per term will still allow you to maintain full-time student status according to the requirements of the Office of the University Registrar (for the purposes of student activity related services such as accessing public transportation, using the ARC, libraries, etc.) It is my hope that by taking a reduced load, it will allow you the time you need to manage your ongoing health challenges and raise your GPA high enough to maintain good academic standing.

Over the next year please ensure that you monitor your health very carefully and seek academic advising at the first signs of any difficulty. Appointments can be made by calling 613-533-2470. If you feel that you are unable to meet all of your academic responsibilities, remember to drop courses as needed within the deadlines posted on the Faculty of Arts and Science website.

Upon returning to a regular course of study it is your responsibility to choose courses carefully, seek out the advice necessary to improve your academic performance, and maintain a GPA consistent with the requirements for successful completion of your plan. I hope that you will take advantage of the variety of support services available to you at Queen's. Academic counselling is available through an advisor in the Faculty of Arts and Science Student Services Office (main floor Dunning Hall, phone 533-2470) or through your plan department. The Learning Commons in Stauffer Library also provides a range of services, including workshops designed to improve study skills and develop strategies for meeting the demands of academic life. Further, the Health, Counselling and Disabilities Centre located in the LaSalle Building at 146 Stuart Street (613-533-2506) offers personal and academic counselling free of charge to all Queen's students, as well as individual consultation to aid in coping with difficulties of a more personal nature.

If you have any questions about this decision, please feel free to contact the Faculty Office for advice or assistance. I wish you success in your future studies.

Yours sincerely,

Johanne Bénard, Ph.D.
Assistant Dean (Studies)
