Dear Zhimu Wang,

I have reviewed your request to waive the petition deadline related to the 2022 Winter and 2022 Fall term and for Credit Standing in CISC 360, CISC 497, and MATH 413 (W23). After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I have granted this request due to the timeline and academic impacts of your extenuating circumstances as confirmed by the documentation that you supplied.

I will also allow you Credit Standing in CISC 324, CISC 360, CISC 365 (W22) and CISC 365 (F22) and to drop CISC 324, CISC 330, and CISC 371 (F22) after the academic deadline without having to submit a subsequent petition request. Your grades in these courses will be replaced with CR and DR notations on your transcript accordingly.

Please know that is the student’s responsibility to pause and evaluate the impact of extenuating circumstances on their classes during week 7 of the term. If they have fallen behind in a course or find the material too difficult, they should drop the course by week 8 of term. The drop deadlines, outlined in the “Important Dates” section on the Faculty of Arts and Science web page, have been established to ensure fair and equitable treatment of all students.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

Sincerely,

Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Academic)
