I have reviewed your request to waive the petition deadline related to the 2022 Fall term. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I have granted this request due to the academic impacts of your extenuating circumstances as confirmed by the documentation that you supplied.

I will also allow you to drop CHEM 281 (F22) after the academic deadline without having to submit a subsequent petition request. Your grades in these courses will be replaced with a DR notation on your transcript.

Going forward, please know that is the student’s responsibility to pause and evaluate the impact of extenuating circumstances on their classes during week 7 of the term. If they have fallen behind in a course or find the material too difficult, they should drop the course by week 8 of term. The drop deadlines, outlined in the “Important Dates” section on the Faculty of Arts and Science web page, have been established to ensure fair and equitable treatment of all students.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
