I have carefully considered your petition to drop ASTR 101 (W23) past the academic deadline and for Credit Standing in PSYC 100 (FW22/23). After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.
Your grades in these courses will be replaced with a DR or CR notation on your transcript accordingly.
I acknowledge that you didn’t begin to receive accommodations until April of 2023, and I have granted this request due to the timeline of your extenuating circumstances as reported within your petition letter. Going forward, I suggest that you remain connected with Queen’s Student Accessibility Services (QSAS) throughout the term so that you obtain support from your Counsellor who can help manage the ongoing impacts of your health on your academics.
I also want you to know that it is the student’s responsibility to pause and evaluate the impact of extenuating circumstances on their classes during week 7 of the term. If they have fallen behind in a course or find the material too difficult, they should drop the course by week 8 of term. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the “Important Dates” section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure fair and equitable treatment of all students.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
