Dear Ms. Budden:

I have carefully considered your appeal to drop CLST 214, MUSC 273 (F 2014), CLST 200, LLCU 200 and STAT 263 (W 2015) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I am encouraged by the fact that you took Dr. B̩nard۪s advice and took a reduced course load but it appears that your health challenges continue to impede your academic progress. We have dropped all of the failed courses from your transcript since 2011. This is a very extraordinary action and it is my hope that you will able to monitor your academic progress carefully in the future and drop courses as needed within the academic deadlines so you will not continue to need to resort to using the appeals system.

To help you with this, I have decided to place a service indicator on your account. In order to register in any future courses, you will need to schedule an appointment with me so we can discuss what course(s) you plan to take and what course load you can comfortably handle. We will also meet prior to each term to touch base and assess your academic progress. This is to help prevent you from incurring further failures and allow you to progress toward the completion of your degree program. Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

I am confident that in the future you will make every effort to inform yourself of the academic regulations concerning deadlines as they are outlined in Important Dates Section on the Arts and Science web page. These deadlines have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students and to facilitate the timely completion of university studies at Queen's.
