I have carefully considered your petition request to add HLTH 101 (W24) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to deny your request.
As you know, courses must be added on SOLUS within the published deadlines. The deadlines for adding courses have been designed and established to provide sufficient time for students to obtain the relevant permission, determine their interest in the course material, to consider their ability to handle each course, and to evaluate their overall workload.
I am sympathetic to your situation and understand that this is a difficult decision, however, I want you to know that I considered this request very thoroughly. In making this decision, I reviewed your petition letter, the documentation that you supplied, and your academic transcript.
I want to remind you that you were granted the late adds of PHGY 216 and BIOL 111 (S24) on May 24 which put you at 15.0 units for the Summer term. This is an extremely heavy course load as Summer term courses are fast-paced and condensed.
I recognize that you have obtained support from the instructor of HLTH 101 however, I have denied this request as I understand that you are also completing the outstanding components of 9.0 units of Winter term courses during the Summer term. It is not recommended that a student attempt more than 6.0 units during a Summer term.
I would strongly recommend that you focus on completing the outstanding work in CHEM 223, MICR 221, and PHGY 216 (W24) and consider dropping some of your currently enrolled Summer term courses before the drop deadline if the workload becomes too heavy. You are welcome to enroll in your final course(s) needed for your degree requirements during a subsequent term such as the upcoming 2024 Fall term. Registration for the 2024/2025 academic year will begin in late July.
