Dear Fady Salib:

I have carefully considered your petition for Credit Standing in MATH 121 (FW22/23). After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request. I will also allow you to drop CHEM 112 (FW22/23) and BIOL 103 (W23) after the academic deadline.

Your grades in these courses will be replaced with a CR or DR notation on your transcript accordingly.

I have granted this request as the documentation attests to an undiagnosed disability that was diagnosed shortly after the 2023 Winter term.

I would suggest that you consider registering with Queen’s Student Accessibility Services (QSAS) if you have not done so already, so that you obtain ongoing support from a Counsellor who can help manage the ongoing impacts of your health on your academics.

Going forward, I want you to know that it is the student’s responsibility to pause and evaluate the impact of extenuating circumstances on their classes during week 7 of the term. If they have fallen behind in a course or find the material too difficult, they should drop the course by week 8 of term. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the “Important Dates” section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure fair and equitable treatment of all students.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

Sincerely,

Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Academic)
