Dear Patrick:

I have carefully considered your request to Waive the Petition Deadline related to the 2020 Winter, 2021 Summer and 2021 Fall terms. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request and I will allow you Credit Standing in HIST 462 (W20) and to drop HIST 270 (S21) and HIST 211 (F21) after the academic deadline without having to submit a subsequent petition request.

Your grades in these courses will be replaced with a CR and DR notation on your transcript accordingly.

I have granted this request due to the timeline and academic impacts of extenuating circumstances as confirmed within the documentation that you supplied.

Going forward you should know that it is the student’s responsibility to pause and evaluate the impact of extenuating circumstances on their classes during week 7 of the term. If they have fallen behind in a course or find the material too difficult, they should drop the course by week 8 of term. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the “Important Dates” section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure fair and equitable treatment of all students.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

Sincerely,

Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Academic)
