Angela, I want you to know that this was a lenient decision as the petition process is not meant to be used to manage a chronic condition. Academic impacts from ongoing circumstances should be managed proactively by utilizing options such as academic consideration or accommodations through QSAS. I have granted this request as I recognize that this was your first year at university.
Going forward, I would suggest that you remain connected with your Queen’s Student Accessibility Services (QSAS) Accessibility Advisor throughout the term who can help manage the ongoing impacts of your health on your academics.
Also, it is the student’s responsibility to pause and evaluate the impact of extenuating circumstances on their classes during week 7 of the term.
