Dear Mr. Closs:
I have carefully considered your appeal to request a review of your instructor€™s decision not to accept your Flip Book assignment in FILM 260 (S 2015). After reviewing your file I have decided to deny your request.
I have investigated this matter and collected information, including the course syllabus and instructions provided to students regarding how to submit their assignments correctly, as well as the penalty assigned for not submitting assignments correctly. FILM 260 is a technical course and learning how to embed HTML code and iFrame code is actually one of the learning outcomes associated with it, so testing a student€™s ability to perform these tasks is considered to be an important assessment of the student€™s mastery of the course material. The course outline also clearly indicates the policy on what constitutes acceptable submission of the assignment. Finally, I will note that it was your decision to register in an on-line course over the summer term without having an internet connection at your home. It was your responsibility to find a place with an internet connection and check to ensure that your assignment was submitted properly, with plenty of time to contact Dr. Matrix if you experienced any technical issues. For these reasons, I am not willing to overturn Dr. Matrix€™s decision.
If you wish to appeal the Associate Dean€™s decision to the Board of Studies, you must submit an appeal to the Board of Studies within 21 days of the date this decision was sent.
