I have reviewed your petition to take more than 6.0 units at another institution on a Letter of Permission during the 2024/2025 academic year. After reviewing your file, I have decided the following:
To deny your request to apply for 18.0 units of PSYC courses on a Letter of Permission at Athabasca University for the 2024/2025 academic year. Academic Regulation 16.2.3. states that no more than 12.0 units may be transfer credits (grade of TR) from outside Queen’s University for the General Arts (B.A.) Plans and so students are not eligible to take more than that.
Laiba, I recognize the difficulties that you have outlined in your petition letter with the limited number of online PSYC courses that is being offered through Queen’s University this academic year and so I am willing to allow you to apply for a maximum of 12.0 units of PSYC courses at Athabasca University for the 2024/2025 academic year. Please know that students can take a maximum of 18.0 units per term, including courses taken at other institutions.
Going forward, I suggest that you continue to look for available PSYC courses that you can add to your 2025 Winter term schedule and that you take your remaining electives through Arts and Science Online at Queen’s.
It is important to note that some institutions are not eligible for a Letter of Permission and not all courses are eligible for transfer credits. It is your responsibility to apply for a Letter of Permission through SOLUS and receive approval before applying to the host institution.
Finally, please be advised that Bachelor of Arts General students are allowed a maximum of 42.0 transfer units toward their academic program including a maximum of 12.0 units toward their major plan.
