Course: ENGL 446
Term: Fall/Winter
Year: 2024
Category: Drop a course after the academic deadline
Dear Natasha Vasiliev:
I have carefully considered your petition to waive the deadline related to the 2023 Winter term and to drop ENGL 347 (FW23/24) and ENGL 446 (W24) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.
I have granted this request due to the timeline and academic impacts of extenuating circumstances as confirmed within the documentation that you supplied. I will also allow you to drop ENGL 223, RELS 131 and WRIT 225 (W23) after the academic deadline, without having to submit a subsequent petition. Your grades in these courses will be replaced with a DR notation on your transcript.
Going forward, it is the student’s responsibility to pause and evaluate the impact of extenuating circumstances on their classes during week 7 of the term. If they have fallen behind in a course or find the material too difficult, they should drop the course by week 8 of term. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the “Important Dates” section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure fair and equitable treatment of all students.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
Sincerely,
Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
