Dear Colleen,
Thank you for your petition regarding Aegrotat Standing in PSYC 221 (F24). I have carefully reviewed your request and the supporting documentation that you supplied, and while I’m unable to grant your petition, I want to assure you that I’ve taken your circumstances into account as part of this decision.
According to the Academic Appeal and Petition Regulation 3.3.1.3, Aegrotat Standing is intended for students who, due to illness or other significant extenuating circumstances, are unable to complete all the work for a course. To be eligible, at least 60% of the course’s components (assignments, midterms, labs, final exams, etc.) must be completed.
Unfortunately, after consulting with the instructor of the course it has been confirmed that you completed only 40% of the course components and so you are not eligible for an Aegrotat Estimated grade in it. It is my understanding that you did not complete Cognitive Lab 2, 3 quizzes, and the Final Exam.
That said, I understand the challenges you have faced, and I do recognize the academic impact of the extenuating circumstances that you reported in your petition letter. As a result, the instructor of the course has offered to facilitate a deferred final exam for you during the current 2025 Winter term so that you have an opportunity to successfully pass the course. If you would like to accept this offer, please connect with instructor Wilson to make the arrangements.
Additionally, if you wish to appeal this decision, you are welcome to submit an appeal to the Board of Studies.
