I have carefully considered your petition to drop CISC 101 (F24) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I have granted this request due to the extenuating circumstances that you reported within your petition letter. Your grade in this course will be replaced with a DR notation on your transcript.

Nadia, I want you to know that this was a lenient decision as your petition did not include documentation from a professional to confirm the timeline or academic impacts of these circumstances. Going forward, I would suggest that you remain connected with Queen’s Student Accessibility Services (QSAS) so that you obtain ongoing support from an Accessibility Advisor who can help manage the ongoing impacts of your health on your academics.

Also, it is the student’s responsibility to pause and evaluate the impact of extenuating circumstances on their classes before the drop deadline. If they have fallen behind in a course or find the material too difficult, they should drop the course by the deadline. The drop deadlines, outlined in the “Important Dates” section on the Faculty of Arts and Science web page, have been established to ensure fair and equitable treatment of all students.
