Dear Jasmine,
Thank you for your petition regarding an additional deferral of the final exams in ANAT 100, PHGY 215, and STAT 263 (F24) into the 2025 Summer term. I have carefully reviewed your request and the information that I received from the instructors of these courses, and while I’m unable to grant your petition, I want to assure you that I’ve taken your circumstances into account as part of this decision.
The Academic Petitions and Appeal Regulation 3.3.1.5. states that a student affected by extenuating circumstances may ask the course instructor that the final examination be delayed, for up to one full term after the completion of a class.
I acknowledge the extenuating circumstances that prevented you from writing these exams during the regular exam period in December, and I was glad to read that you have sought support for these circumstances and are feeling better. I have however, denied this request for a deferral into the Summer term, as I did not receive support from all of the instructors of these courses and as the documentation that you supplied suggests that as of February 21, 2025, you could handle a full course load plus meet the requirements of the delayed course work at that time.
The instructor of ANAT 100 has suggested that you may not have met the learning outcomes of the course based on the work that you have completed and that they do not support deferrals of deferrals. The instructor of PHGY 215 also reported that you haven’t met the learning outcomes of their course and has suggested that you consider dropping it.
That said, I understand the challenges you have faced and as a result, I will allow you to drop ANAT 100, PHGY 215 and STAT 263 (F24) after the academic deadline so that your final grades will be replaced with a DR notation on your transcript. If you would like to accept this offer, please email asc.petitions@queensu.ca within 10 business days of receiving this letter.
