Dear Nicholas:

I have carefully considered your petition to drop MATH 112 (W24) past the academic deadline and for Credit Standing in CHEM 112, MATH 121 (FW23/24), CISC 101 and PHAR 100 (W24). After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I have granted this petition as the documentation that you supplied confirms an unaccommodated disability during these terms. Your grades in these courses will be replaced with a DR or CR notation on your transcript accordingly. I will also allow you Credit Standing in BIOL 102 and MUSC 171 (F23) as I recognize that these courses were also impacted.

Going forward, I would suggest that you connect with Queen’s Student Accessibility Services (QSAS) each term so that you obtain ongoing support from an Accessibility Advisor who can help manage the ongoing impacts of your health on your academics.

Also, it is the student’s responsibility to pause and evaluate the impact of extenuating circumstances on their classes before the drop deadline of the term. If they have fallen behind in a course or find the material too difficult, they should drop the course by the deadline. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the “Important Dates” section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure fair and equitable treatment of all students.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
