Dear Naseeb Mann:

I have carefully considered your petition to drop RELS 131 (FW23/24), CLST 208, HIST 214, HIST 231, RELS 205 (W24), ENGL 273, HIST 200 (S24), HIST 217, and HIST 223 (F24) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I have granted this request due as the documentation that you supplied attests to an unaccommodated disability during these terms. I will also allow you to drop FILM 236, HIST 270 and HIST 283 (F23) after the academic deadline as I recognize that your academic ability was impacted by extenuating circumstances during the 2023 Fall term. Your grades in these courses will be replaced with a DR notation on your transcript.

Going forward, I would suggest that you remain connected with Queen’s Student Accessibility Services (QSAS) each term so that you obtain ongoing support from an Accessibility Advisor who can help manage the ongoing impacts of your health on your academics.

Also, it is the student’s responsibility to pause and evaluate the impact of extenuating circumstances on their classes before the drop deadline. If they have fallen behind in a course or find the material too difficult, they should drop the course by the deadline. The drop deadlines, outlined in the “Important Dates” section on the Faculty of Arts and Science web page, have been established to ensure fair and equitable treatment of all students.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
