I have carefully considered your appeal to drop GEOL 104 (W 2015) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file I have decided to deny your request.
Exceptions can be made in exceptional circumstances when there is clear and compelling evidence supporting an individual student€™s situation.
While it is clear that your academic performance was challenged by your chronic fatigue, dyslexia and anxiety, the medical note you provided from Dr. Kozanitis is not sufficient because it does not indicate the timeline of your illness or the impact that it had on your ability to successfully complete GEOL 104. I have attached a sample medical note for you to show what information supporting documentation should include. Alternatively, your doctor can fill out the Off-Campus Medical Form instead of writing a letter (which I have attached as well).
It appears that very generous academic accommodations were made for you in this course. The Chair of Undergraduate Studies in the Geology Department made every effort to provide you with assistance and support to complete this course over the summer. In my opinion, extraordinary measures were taken to give you every opportunity to be successful.
If you wish to appeal the Associate Dean€™s decision to the Board of Studies, you must submit an appeal to the Board of Studies within 21 days of the date this decision was sent.
