Dear Shannon Smadella:

We have received the results of your petition request #13063 to review an instructor’s decision on grading related to the Self-Assessment in ENIN 400 (W25).

As per Arts and Science Academic Calendar, Academic Petitions and Appeals Regulation 3.3.1.6, To Facilitate a Formal Review of Instructors’ Decisions on Grading of Term Work and/or Final Examinations, a student may petition for a formal review of a grade assigned in a course subject to the marking scheme set out by the course instructor.

Your Self-Assessment was sent to the Undergraduate Chair of the Department so they could facilitate this review. During the formal review process, two reviewers (selected by the Undergraduate Chair) were provided with your Self-Assessment along with the instructions/rubric for this component.

We regret to inform you that this review did not result in a change to your final grade in ENIN 400 (W25). If you are concerned with the impact that this course has on your GPA, we would suggest that you consider repeating it in a future term. When repeating the exact same course code, both attempts will appear on your transcript however, only the higher grade will be included within the calculation of your cumulative GPA.

Additionally, please know that according to Academic Petition and Appeal regulation 3.3.1.6. at https://www.queensu.ca/academic-calendar/arts-science/appeal-regulations/#text this reconsidered grade may not be appealed.

Sincerely,

(for) Jenn Stephenson
