Dear Zachary Brandes:

I have carefully considered your petition for Credit Standing in COGS 100 (F24) and to DROP CISC 101 and HLTH 101 (F24) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I have granted this request due to the timeline, severity and academic impacts of extenuating circumstances as confirmed within the documentation you supplied. Your grades in these courses will be replaced with a CR and DR notation on your transcript accordingly.

I will also allow you to drop CISC 102 (F24), CISC 102 (W25) and STAT 263 (W25) as I recognize that these courses were also impacted by extenuating circumstances. If you would like to accept this offer, please email asc.petitions@queensu.ca within 15 business days of receiving this letter.

Going forward, it is the student’s responsibility to pause and evaluate the impact of extenuating circumstances on their classes before the drop deadline of the term. If they have fallen behind in a course or find the material too difficult, they should drop the course by the deadline. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the “Important Dates” section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure fair and equitable treatment of all students.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
