I have carefully considered your petition to drop ENGL 100, ENGL 273 (S24), PHIL 259 (F24) and ENGL 200 (FW24/25) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I have granted this request due to the timeline and academic impacts of extenuating circumstances as confirmed within the documentation you supplied. I will also allow you to drop CLST 205 (S24) as I recognize that this course was also impacted by these circumstances. Your grades will be replaced with a DR notation on your transcript.

Going forward, I want to remind you that the petition process is not meant to be used to manage a chronic condition. Academic impacts from ongoing circumstances should be managed proactively by utilizing options such as academic consideration or accommodation through QSAS. I suggest that you contact your Queen’s Student Accessibility Services (QSAS) Accessibility Advisor, if you have not done so already, so that you can ensure that appropriate accommodations are in place for the upcoming academic year.

Also, you should know that it is your responsibility to pause and evaluate the impact of extenuating circumstances on your coursework prior to the drop deadline of the term. If you fall behind in a course or find the material too difficult, you should drop the course by deadline. The drop deadlines, outlined in the “Important Dates” section on the Faculty of Arts and Science web page, have been established to ensure fair and equitable treatment of all students.
