Dear Furaha-Safi:

I have carefully considered your petition to drop SOCY 122 (FW24/25), BLCK 220 and MUSC 156 (W25) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I have granted this request as the documentation that you supplied suggests an unaccommodated disability during this term. Your final grades in these courses will be replaced with a DR notation on your transcript.

I will also allow you Credit Standing in PSYC 100 (FW24/25) as I recognize that this course was also impacted by these circumstances. If you would like to accept this offer, please email asc.petitions@queensu.ca within 15 business days of receiving this letter.

Going forward, I would suggest that you consider registering with Queen’s Student Accessibility Services (QSAS) if you have not done so already, so that you can obtain ongoing support from an Accessibility Advisor who can help manage the ongoing impacts of your health on your academics.

Also, you should know that it is your responsibility to pause and evaluate the impact of extenuating circumstances on your coursework prior to the drop deadline of the term. If you fall behind in a course or find the material too difficult, you should drop the course by deadline. The drop deadlines, outlined in the “Important Dates” section on the Faculty of Arts and Science web page, have been established to ensure fair and equitable treatment of all students.
