Dear Lucas,
I have carefully considered your petition for Credit Standing in MATH 112 and IDIS 173 (W25). While I’m unable to grant both of these requests, I want to assure you that your circumstances were considered thoughtfully and with care as part of the decision-making process.
According to the Academic Appeal and Petition Regulation 1.7.1.4 Credit Standing is reserved for a course in which a student who has completed all of the work of the class, including the final examination, and achieved a passing grade in the class, but due to illness or other extenuating circumstances beyond their control, earned a substantially lower grade than might have been expected. Normally CR standing is only awarded for a grade of C or lower.
I have granted your request for Credit Standing in MATH 112 (W25) in recognition of how the PSAC Local 901 strike and labor disruption affected this course during the 2025 Winter term. Your final grade will be replaced with a CR notation on your transcript once this has been processed by the Office of the University Registrar.
Regarding your request for Credit Standing in IDIS 173 (W25), I have reviewed your petition letter, and information provided by the course instructor.
While I acknowledge that the PSAC Local 901 strike and labor disruption affected this course during the 2025 Winter term, including the removal of Blogs #4 and #5 and the reweighing of other components, the instructor has confirmed that you did not complete Blog #2 or the mid-term exam. As you did not complete all graded components in IDIS 173 (W25), you are not eligible for Credit Standing in this course under the regulation.
If you are concerned with the impact that your final grade in IDIS 173 has on your GPA, I would suggest that you consider repeating the course in a future term. When repeating the exact same course code, both attempts will appear on your transcript however, only the higher grade will be included within the calculation of your cumulative GPA.
