Dear Sau-Ling Hum:

We have received the results of your petition request #14025 to review an instructor’s decision on grading related to your Exhibition Proposal Project in ARTH 101 (F25).

As per Arts and Science Academic Calendar, Academic Petitions and Appeals Regulation 1.7.1.10, To Facilitate a Formal Review of Instructors’ Decisions on Grading of Term Work and/or Final Examinations, a student may petition for a formal review of a grade assigned in a course subject to the marking scheme set out by the course instructor.

Your petition letter, with your name redacted, was sent to the Department Head so that they could understand the reasons for your request before they facilitated this review. As part of formal review process, two subject matter experts (selected by the Head) were provided with your Exhibition Proposal Project, with your name redacted, and the relevant instructions for this component.

This review did not result in an increase in your Exhibition Proposal Project grade. Your final course grade in ARTH 101 (F25) will remain unchanged.

Please know that according to Academic Petition and Appeal regulation 1.7.1.10. at https://www.queensu.ca/academic-calendar/arts-science/appeal-regulations/#text the reconsidered grade, which may be higher than or remain unchanged from the original grade, may not be appealed.

If you are concerned with the impact that your grade in ARTH 101 has on your GPA, you may want to consider repeating this course in a future term. When repeating the exact same course code, both attempts will appear on your transcript, however only the higher grade will be included within your GPA.

Sincerely,

Academic Petitions Team
