Petition Letter
Dr. Chin,
My name is Evan Huys. I am a third year student in the Concurrent Education program. At this time, I am petitioning to drop HIST 443 (Fall, 2022.)
I am petitioning to drop HIST 443 (Fall, 2022) due to the fact that I have extenuating medical circumstances beyond my control. Due to an ongoing mental illness, I was unable to attend class and complete assignments from September 12 until the end of the course. I have not felt well enough to complete this form to drop the course earlier and am only able to complete it, currently, with assistance.
I corresponded with Professor Richard Greenfield via email regarding what I could do considering the situation I found myself in. In an email on December 23, 2022 Professor Greenfield stated, ??As I explained, HIST 443 is a seminar (not a lecture) where weekly participation and discussion is essential to the way the course works. That can no longer be reproduced and, since two thirds of the course was missed, cannot be replaced in some other way.? Further on in the email, Professor Greenfield stated, ??I will happily support an application to drop the course late without penalty and urge you to follow that route.?
My future plan will be to retake a similar course next school year (2023/24).
Thank you for your consideration. I am available to answer any further questions you may have by email 20ewh@queensu.ca or by phone 647 921 6757.
Sincerely,
Evan Huys
