Petition Letter
Dear Dr. Jenn Stephenson,
I am petitioning to add STAT 263 (winter, 2023) passed the add course deadline this term.
While scheduling my courses this term, I came across the issue of not performing well enough in a prerequisite required to take a mandatory course for my major, ECON 351. In order to take ECON 351, I need a minimum of a C in STAT 263. I took this course fall 2022 and received a D. Upon realizing my shortcomings, I emailed undergraduate Chair of Economics, Professor Ian Cromb. He informed me that the economics department does not waive prerequisites and told me to retake STAT 263. I then emailed Ms. Auld and asked her to add me into STAT 263 despite already taking the course. Ms. Auld did this and I was added to the course in the first spot on the wait list. I waited until the final day to drop a course without financial penalty and a spot never opened up. I asked Ms. Auld how to proceed and she informed me that there were now two spots available and that I could file for an academic petition.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Jillian Hay
