Petition Letter
Dear Associate Academic Dean,
I hope you are doing well. I am petitioning to add MATH594, ??Independent Study?.
This semester I was interested in taking the math course MATH892 (Complex Analysis), because I had missed the undergraduate equivalent while I was on exchange. I attended lectures but was informed on January 20th that I would not be allowed to enrol, because 300-level students are not allowed to get credit for 800-level courses. I received credit for MATH328 while I was on exchange, so I am not able to take another pure math course, but I was informed that I could alternatively take MATH594, independent study. To do so, however, required a professor to agree to advise me, and for me to make a course outline. I was not able to get a professor??s approval by the course add deadline later that night, but have since, so I am requesting to be enrolled in MATH594. I have also created a course syllabus which outlines how I will succeed in my independent study with my advisor, Prof. Ram Murty.
Thank you for your consideration,
Grayson Plumpton
