Petition Letter
Dear Associate Dean,
My name is Yue Qian, and my student number is 20216593. I'm appealing to drop MATH225 (Summer, 2022), MATH280 (Fall, 2022), MATH384 (Fall, 2022), STAT361 (Fall, 2022), STAT463 (Fall, 2022) and ECON212 (Fall, 2022).
The reason I appeal to drop MATH225 (Summer, 2022), MATH280 (Fall, 2022), MATH384 (Fall, 2022), STAT361 (Fall, 2022), STAT463 (Fall, 2022), and ECON212 (Fall, 2022) is that I failed in the MATH225 (Summer, 2022), MATH280 (Fall, 2022), MATH384 (Fall, 2022), STAT361 (Fall, 2022), STAT463 (Fall, 2022), and ECON212 (Fall, 2022). The circumstance for me in the summer was that my mental health was in a horrible direction, which made me have a hard time attending class and even influenced my life. Starting from May, I had the mind of killing and hurting myself, so I found Sunday and Craig, the crisis counselor in the student wellness center for help. We worked hard to make my situation better by taking medicine to adjust my sleeping schedule and trying to control the idea of hurting myself and other dangerous thoughts. Fortunately, we did achieve some success before September, and I started to live regularly. However, my situation got worse again in October. My sleeping schedule went a mess and family problems affect me deeply which made me feel anxiety so much. In that circumstance, both my emotion and daily life got strongly effect. Therefore, I found Craig again for help to remit from the family effect and start to set up a feasible daily schedule to balance study and life. Also, we work on reducing my feeling of guilt for wasting some time in the day doing entertainment instead of studying for a whole day. Nevertheless, the circumstance during these two terms do affect my study deeply, so it reflected in my grade for failing to pass the courses.
For future plan for my study, I'm trying my best to connect with doctors and counselors around me not only in student wellness to help me find a better living schedule. I will keep meeting with doctors and academic advisors to find medication and professional suggestions that could help move forward. Especially I found that dropping MATH225 (Summer, 2022), MATH280 (Fall, 2022), MATH384 (Fall, 2022), STAT361 (Fall, 2022), STAT463 (Fall, 2022) and ECON212 (Fall, 2022) will help me reduce the pressure on having a low GPA, which will make my emotion keep calm and better for me to balance life and study time.
For all those discussions and considerations, I decided to drop MATH225 (Summer, 2022), MATH280 (Fall, 2022), MATH384 (Fall, 2022), STAT361 (Fall, 2022), STAT463 (Fall, 2022) and ECON212 (Fall, 2022), and I will continue to find the best way to get success in both study and life. Thank you so much for considering my request.
Sincerely,
Yue Qian
