Petition Letter
Hello, I hope this message finds you well. My name is Miranda James and I am currently a first year student in the bachelors of science program looking to major in biology. I am writing this petition to seek accommodation for the remainder of this year, and the final grades. I am hoping that, in the worst case scenario of a low GPA, that I can be placed on academic probation and given the opportunity to redeem my marks and remain in my program. Throughout this academic year, I have experienced multiple situations of unexpected circumstance involving my health, and the tragic loss of two family members. These situations had caused me to have to go home and be with my family, as well as to see my healthcare providers. I put in my best effort to keep up with the courses I am enrolled in, but it is obvious that my grades are impacted. I am passionate about Biology, and being part of the Queen's community, and having to take a year away from my studies would be detrimental. I am hopeful that there are steps I can take to ensure that this does not happen, and I am willing to continue to put ample time and effort into my studies in my second year, and find ways to better cope with unexpected life events where possible so that my grades are effected minimally when they occur. This is not usual for me to experience suffering with my grades, as reflected on my high school transcript. I am hoping that you will take the time to work something out with me and take this appeal into great consideration.
