Petition Letter
Dear Art and Science Department,
My health has deteriorated since the beginning of March. It started with an incident in early March when I almost fainted, and had the sudden onset of symptoms like nausea and headaches and other weird aches and pain, ears ringing, etc. So I went to urgent care, where I was told I had a vasovagal episode and would feel better the next day. Unfortunately, I did not feel better and started to get worse, with other symptoms such as extreme exhaustion, nerve pain, excessive sweating, brain fog, and extreme lower back pain. Furthermore, one side of my body is more affected than the other. I tried to go to class at this time but immediately had to leave due to flair-ups of these symptoms and go back to urgent care. I think I went to urgent care or emergency several different times during March and I have records of all those visits and diagnoses, none of which have led to improvement in symptoms (I applied for academic consideration after my vertigo diagnosis). On March 27th I went to Toronto to my family doctor. He believes I have something called Postructural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, and I have been referred to a cardiologist specialist to get proper testing and diagnosis of this condition. In the meantime, I also have more urine tests and bloodwork being done to try and continue ruling out what it could be. I also am still suffering from my symptoms greatly, I have been house-ridden most days, bedridden on particularly bad days. Because of this series of events I have not been able to attend classes and have struggled greatly with meeting the March deadlines for my assignments. It's been really difficult to concentrate on schoolwork, and I've also been busy seeing doctors, which is why I am petitioning to drop this semester from my record. I'm not sure how to attach supporting documents to this application portal, but I am happy to email anything needed for verification.
Thank you so much for your consideration.
