Petition Letter
My name is Baicun Wu, student number is 20304715. I am very worried about my wasted time and grades this semester. I wish I could drop my Chem 112 course. And the course Geo 200, I hope you can let me do quiz 3, 4 and 6 again.
I suffered from telecom fraud at the end of January, but I didn't realize that I had been cheated during these two months. I didn't find out about the scam until the end of the month, but luckily, I haven't lost any money. The fraudster put me under a lot of psychological stress for two months until I got up the courage to tell my friends about it and they told me it was all a scam. I called the Chinese Embassy and they said it was a fraudster trying to scam me.
It's actually a common fraud that fraudsters pretend to be policemen and say I committed a crime. But I didn't know that and really thought the police came to me and they monitored me for two months as part of an investigation. I didn't know something was wrong until recently when they said they were going to charge me.
My grades have been badly affected by this incident this semester. I'm really worried about that, and I'm even more sorry that a few months have been wasted. I also feel sad for myself as an international student who can't distinguish the swindle then wasted time. I asked Daralyn Auld, the International Students' Academic Advisor, about this the day before yesterday. She replied that I should write you this petition.
For the previous two months, the fraudster had placed me under 24-hour surveillance, reporting and recording wherever I went, in the name of police. As a result, in the past two months, I not only didn't want to study (because they said I had 1.5 million stolen money on my card, I would go to jail if I didn't cooperate with the investigation), but also didn't go anywhere to relax during the holiday. And because of what they called investigations and interrogations, they missed a lot of deadlines to complete the assignment. My computer may have been infected with a virus, which made me unable to hand in the chemistry report on time during that period. Now my computer is fine, but it's hard for me to recover the lost time.
As a freshman, I am very sad that I didn't get off to a good start in my first semester in Queens. Writing this petition is my only option right now. The deception seems flawed to me now, but I was gripped by fear at the time. . Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.
