I will try to take the regular course load in my first semester, not having personal problems to deal with will allow me to have more time to focus on my academic progress and will also allow me to work on myself and the tasks assigned. If the course load is too much I can drop a course and take a lighter load in the second semester.
A challenge I faced in my first year was mental health problems due to personal relations. I will be focusing on myself for the rest of the school duration and put other things second. I have also learned from my mistakes this past school year and know that my academic progress is of utmost importance. I will need to make sacrifices whether it be events or parties to make sure that the requirements for my academic requirements are met.
Some of the skills I need to build moving forward is time management and discipline. Time management to make sure that the things that need to get done are finished on time and having the time to balance certain aspects of my life such as sleep, academics and personal wellbeing. I also need the discipline to work on the important tasks at hand. Which means putting my academics before any leisure time, and meeting expectations whether it be school or in any other field.
I plan to use calendars and reminders to assist in keeping track of my time management. While discipline is something that takes time and repetition to develop, therefore I will start personal wellness and self improvement now over the summer to ensure a foundation for the upcoming academic year. I will also be talking to an academic advisor to find recommendations on strategies to help aid my progress next year.
