Academic Plan
To prevent my personal challenges from allowing me to succeed again I have certain strategies and resources in place to support my academic goals. Through gaining an understanding of what course load I am comfortable with I want to continue to pursue taking four courses a semester and regularly monitoring how I am handling all of my courses and readjusting my course load if needed. The biggest issue I dealt with was time management, to proactively counteract this I will write down all my assignment due dates as soon as I receive them as well as consult with a learning strategist through Student Academic Success Services to improve and find the best study strategies for me. Additionally, I am going to request a mentor through the peer mentor program as I feel that would be an extremely helpful resource for me to connect with another student and have ongoing support with questions I have about helpful tips and resources they can share from experience. If given the opportunity to continue my studies in fall 2023, I am committed to taking advantage of all the resources Queen’s has in place such as campus workshops to reach the most of my capabilities. Further to maintain good mental health to ensure I can achieve academic progress and success I am committed to continuing regular treatment with a counselor every two weeks as well as taking the necessary medical treatment and regular check-ups with a physician. Although previously I haven’t had a sufficient academic plan in place, after last semester I now know clearly which path I want to pursue and am dedicated and excited to be able to learn about something I am passionate about. Through meeting with an academic advisor, I am aware of the requirements and have recently applied to major in art history. Alongside the previous strategies I have outlined I plan to frequently meet with Jenna Kring, an academic advisor at Queen's to assess that I am on the right academic track.
