Petition Letter
My name is Gracey Hammel I am a student at queens.
For the last year I have suffered from an intense crisis in mental health. In the fall semester I was able to drop my courses within the deadline however due to an increase in severity of my mental health, I was unable to do so in the winter semester. Up until recently I have not been mentally able to reach out and ask for help, however I am now in contact with academic advisors (primarily Jenna Kring) who have guided me to the appeals portal to request my courses from the winter 2023 semester be dropped from my transcript after the deadline.
We are now discussing a sabbatical as it’s becoming clear that time away might be necessary in order to ensure my mental health is in a functioning state to continue my studies. I have also been referred to an ASC embedded counsellor to discuss my mental health and get myself back into a healthy state.
I have an appointment via phone to speak with my physician this up coming week to receive official supporting documentation and will attach this to my appeal as soon as I receive it.
