Petition Letter
Hello,
I am petitioning for a DR in the course CHEM 281 I took in Fall 2022 due to the extenuating circumstances I faced that were beyond my control. Throughout the Fall semester of 2022, my mental health was steeply declining, and the course CHEM281 heightened these issues to the point that it severely affected my academic performance. However, it's also important to note that I suffered from an underlying condition that impacted my physical health. This medical issue occurred throughout the 2022-2023 academic year. Specifically, this medical issue was first documented on December 11th, 2022, as shown in the provided supporting documentation. This medical issue peaked on January 14th, 2023, when I wrote my CHEM 281 final exam, worth 50% of my final grade. Before, during and after my exam, I suffered from vertigo, dizziness, nausea, migraine and more, making it significantly difficult to write and focus on my exam. At one point in my exam, I was so dizzy and nauseous from vertigo that I momentarily lost vision in one of my eyes. Due to the physician's long wait times and my impairment, this health issue was again reported on January 15th, 2023, as shown in the supporting documentation. After consulting with my doctor, he clarified that I was in no shape to write that exam by assessing the severity of my symptoms. The health problems I struggled with in the fall term that followed into the winter term were so severe that my doctor recognized and signed off on the
