Academic Plan
I am confident that while studying at another institution for a semester I will be able to keep up with my Academic Plan and ensure success in my program.
I am currently in my third year of a BAH, with a major in Political Studies. I will have satisfied my required core courses by the end of the Fall 2023 term. Thus, the courses I would take at UCC would count towards my third-year option courses. I have discussed this matter with the Political Studies Undergraduate Chair, Dr. Kyle Hanniman. I would continue as a full-time student while abroad, as I will complete a total of 12 units there. Currently, I do not have any outstanding work from previous terms and do not expect to. I also do not feel I need to take a lighter load than I have in the past as I have maintained good academic standing. I do not plan to work during my semester abroad as I hope to focus on my studies and explore Ireland and its surrounding areas in my free time.
I feel that I have not struggled significantly with the content offered through the Political Studies program but have identified courses at University College Cork that I feel are unlike any offered at Queen’s. They are:
-PO3005 - Issues in Irish Politics
-GV3210 - Politics in Northern Ireland
-GV3220 - Chinese Politics
-GV4415 - Contemporary Debates in the EU
The content these courses cover interests me and I feel that I will have no problem staying engaged and succeeding in them. I understand I will need to obtain an International Letter of Permission in addition to this appeal to ensure the transfer of credits and will do so should my appeal be granted.
