Petition Letter
To Whom it May Concern,
The circumstances for my petition are as follows:
Over the course of the 2022-2023 school year, I experienced a significant mental health situation that affected my ability to submit my coursework within the initially discussed extensions which carried over from the Fall to the Winter term. The symptoms of my condition began half way through Fall semester, and then worsened throughout the Winter semester. I have coordinated with Dr. Marcus Taylor, my QSAS advisor (Deb Bruce), a personal counselor, and health care professionals throughout the year and summer to address how my condition impaired my ability to complete the course.
After exams last April, I reached out to Dr. Taylor as soon as I got home and in an environment of proper support. I asked if he would consider giving me an IN for the course so that I could finish my previous attempts at completing the course, given that I was then able to work more closely with professional help to address my condition. He kindly accommodated my request, and I have since submitted all of my coursework at the end of August.
With my coursework submitted, Dr. Taylor requested that my grade be changed from an F to a B. I do have supporting documentation to confirm this.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions or need more information.
Sincerely
Zara Smith
