Petition Letter
I am writing this letter in hopes of receiving permission to drop the courses that I enrolled in over the summer.
I underwent significant struggles with my health over the summer, for which I have already received documentation verifying my absence for two months of the semester. Due to the nature of my health struggles, I was also unable to work full-time this summer which caused me significant financial strain. I am an independent student and receive no funding from my parents; my inability to work, and study, combined with the strain on my personal health caused me significant grief, and I was unable to complete my courses. I fully understand that I should have attempted to drop at an earlier date, although I did not. I have the support of my physician who advised me to take the semester off from the very beginning. I believed that I could do more than I was capable of, and as a result, failed my courses. If at all possible, I would like to drop the courses so that I can maintain my academic progress and continue to receive the OSAP which I depend on to study and survive.
I have spent the summer recovering and working with my doctor. I will follow-up appointment with my physician next week, he fully endorses my need to take time off of school this summer and can provide further documentation upon request.
Thank you for your kind consideration,
Bailey Shantz
