Petition Letter
Dear student advisor,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to request an exception to the academic policy regarding course withdrawal deadlines for the current semester. I understand that the academic deadline for dropping courses has already passed. Still, I find myself in a challenging situation in CISC 452, and it is in the best interest of my academic performance to request this withdrawal.
I enrolled in CISC 452 this semester with high hopes and a solid commitment to excel. Unfortunately, I have faced unforeseen difficulties that have adversely affected my overall performance in the course. These challenges include my lack of prerequisite courses, which leads to contempt for the class. Also, there was a constant family issue that made me have to travel back to Toronto every week. I don't have enough time to work, and the psychological pressure is that I won't be able to graduate regularly.
I genuinely care about my academic record and am committed to improving my grades and academic performance. Dropping 452 at this point will allow me to focus on my other courses, address the issues I am currently facing, and ensure that I can make the most of my education. With the necessary adjustments, I can return to this course in the future and perform at a level that reflects my true capabilities. This means that I will make it up in future semesters.
I understand that exceptions to academic deadlines are not made lightly and are typically reserved for exceptional circumstances. I appreciate your understanding and support in granting this request. I am committed to making up for this withdrawal by successfully completing CISC 452 in a future semester.
I am grateful for your time and consideration of my request. Your understanding and assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Please do not hesitate to contact me at 18rl62@queensu.ca if you require further information or clarification.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
Renjie Liao
