Petition Letter
Dear Professor Hanes,
Please consider this communication a formal request to waive the deadline to withdraw from Astronomy101.
I am a first year student who has been approved for accommodations, as advised by Dr. Lin, a Registered Psychologist, in a preliminary diagnosis (please see attached letter). Beginning my first year at Queen’s, I was hopeful that I could manage a full course load with the current accommodations in place and I have made a valiant effort to manage with my academic challenges.
Next week, November 27, I have my final follow-up appointment with Dr. Lin, in which I will receive my full and comprehensive diagnoses and educational recommendations. At this point in time, I am managing with my other four courses, but I am struggling to manage this course, especially with the virtual lab platform. The diagnoses are new to me, of which I will not know the full extent until Nov. 27/23. I ask for your understanding as I learn how to navigate the best way through my post secondary education.
I respectfully ask that under the circumstances, you would approve my request to have the deadline date for dropping this course waived. If required, I can follow up with Dr. Lin’s full report and official diagnoses once received on the 27th of November. Please advise if this will be necessary or if the attached letter from Dr. Lin is sufficient.
Respectfully,
Hannah Goad
