Petition Letter
I did not receive my Quiz 2, nor did I have the chance to take a look, and my mark came through. It says its an 80%. I wrote an email to the prof and head TA, and I've gotten no response. In my email, I outlined some other things. I did not receive my Quiz 2, nor did I have the chance to take a look, and my mark came through. It says its an 80%. I wrote an email to the prof and head TA, and I've gotten no response. In my email, I outlined some other things:
For starters, by the grades that I have alone, I achieve an 89.8, which is 0.2 off of 90 (A+ grade). I find it very unfortunate that it would be curved down, but if that is the case then it is what it is. Second, do the peer reviews influence the grades from A0 - A4? In my group, majority of the work, 4 of us did majority of the work, and two hardly contributed. I believe that our grades should be adjusted to account for the lack of team effort -> last minute ditch effort to complete their parts, etc. It should have been reflected through the peer reviews given in our group. I think an adjustment upwards of 0.2 is justifiable.
A justification for this is that the bulk of the marks that I lost is on A1. It was hard to understand as it was the first one, and we could not figure how the grading was going to be accomplished (along the lack of work by the other two members). From here on, we made an effort to reshape the way we approached each assignment, and it lead to a grade increase. I personally think the more recent ones should be valued a bit higher instead of being the same as A1.
Lastly, if nothing else, I would like to request to take a look at my quiz 2, as I recall feeling pretty good about it, and I'm somewhat surprised I got an 80 on quiz 2. As such I would like to take a look and verify the grading myself.
Sorry for being very nit picky about this, but I genuinely do believe that I deserve the 0.2% grade adjustment upwards, to change the A to an A+ on my transcript. I really believe that it would make a different in my future job applications.
